Rims and wheels

rims and wheels detailing guide fresh start auto detail

For many people, an exterior wash will be enough "clean" for the wheels and rims; however, if you're looking for that showroom-wheel look, check out our guide below.

Fresh Start Pro Info ✔All wheels respond differently to tire conditioning products. If your tires run liquid (common in Audi's), use a microfiber towel to dab the tire until dry. ✔A high-quality glass cleaner is engineered to evaporate quickly so it won't leave behind residue or haze. ✔Cleaning your wheels can get messy. You'll probably want to have a dedicated set of towels, brushes, and applicator pads just for tires.

How to clean your tires and rims

01

Pressure wash

Pressure wash the exterior of your wheels and rims. Use a high quality wheel cleaning product on your wheels and rims and let sit for 5 minutes. Using a dedicated wheel brush, scrub wheels and rims until desired. Rinse thoroughly with pressure washer.

03

Apply Tire Conditioning

Use your preferred tire conditioning product and applicator pad to dress tires. Be sure to apply close to the rims to ensure a clean look.

02

Detail Spray Wheels

Use your preferred detail spray and spray down the wheels. Use a microfiber towel to buff wheels to your liking.

04

Ceramic Coating [optional]

If you prefer to keep your rims and wheels in good shape year-round, you can use a rims ceramic coating to  repel dirt and grime. Ceramic coatings typically come in small glass bottles, and can be applied to your wheels using an applicator pad. See exterior coating guide for more info.
